Well yesterday was the first UCONN football game for the 2006 season and the Huskies opened up their season against the Rams of Rhode Island, a Div 1-AA school.
As usual the boys were out in force again, tailgating it up. There was even a fantasy football draft. Anyways, this is a quick post right now because I am on dial-up internet access. I think dial up should be outlawed because this is so slow, i watched a turtle run a mile in 5 minutes.
Anyways, I will be adding pictures from the game as well as the rest of the stories that came along with today's game when I get back home to West Haven in the morning.
UPDATE: Well I have gotten the pics uploaded and they will be viewable at the bottom of the post.
So our day started with a visit to the fanfest booth where we ran into the Geico Girls, who we later found out worked at the Gold Club in Hartford. From there it was back to the tailgate to wait for the rest of the crowd so we could start our fantasy football draft. Our draft only took 90 minutes, which for us is pretty quick.
Anyways onto the game. UCONN opened up their season with the Rhode Island Rams. It was a strange start to the season as the Rams opened up with an onsides kick, which they did recover. After that, the UCONN D stood strong and it was all UCONN til the end. UCONN won the game 52-7 amassing a whopping 419 yards rushing and 563 yards of total offense. Lots of stars for UCONN last night, but I am giving the star of the game to Larry Taylor who finished with 2 rushes for 62 yards, 3 receptions for 42 yards and a TD. Next up for the Huskies is the Wake Forest Deamon Deacons on September 16th, 12 NOON at the Rent.
